PlanePlotter also has an excellent ACARS decoder. With the RTL-SDR, use in conjunction with an ADS-B decoder.

Being my production feeder, it has MLAT remote messages not in the stats above. PlanePlotter is a commercial advanced graphical ADS-B radar display with a 21 day free trial. Maybe upload the three stats.json or stats console output after some runtime? (at least i would have a look).ĭump1090-fa-airspy-1. Total positions received or average positions per second as a stat maybe? I’m also exploring a way to create a virtual USB device that can play a sample file captured with airspy_rx to airspy_adsb so we can do real comparisons with the exact same data.

I’m going to add a few more knobs to dump1090-fa-airspy to control the whitelist stuff we talked about earlier and also an option to adjust the filter in the R820T but when I did that manually things only got worse so I’m not sure how to test it in other environments. Of course, this is all in my environment which is quite active but also quite noisy due to nearby FM/TV transmitters.

Practically speaking though, the only real difference is the CPU used. You’ll notice that there are even differences in the results between the two identical dump1090-fa-airspy hosts, let alone between them and the airspy_adsb host. –enable-df24 -demod-no-drop-dup-msgs -max-range 500 –demod-preamble-strictness 3 -demod-msg-window -7:7 –demod-preamble-threshold 0.9 -demod-smoother-window 4 –sample-rate 12 -sample-format u16o12 -demod hirate –airspy-linearity-gain 21 -airspy-enable-packing (blizzard here today).3-way XRDS-RF 489-2700MHz, -4.8db ins loss I've built an 8 element colinear antenna for 1090 since installing the storebought antenna, I might eventually switch antennas around to see how it works once we get a break in the weather. I also have a passband filter installed to help mitigate interference from the nearby ISP radio and local cell tower(s). If one likes to use adsbScope or Planeplotter, then switch 4 has to be closed and the USB-cable has to be disconnected and reconnected to reset the decoder. It is required for our ISP for our internet service located about 10 mi away. Note the parabolic antenna nearby it does affect coverage to the WSW somewhat. This is a FlightAware 1090 antenna recently purchased through Amazon, and seems to work adequately. The image shows the antenna beside the anemometer. Running about 100' LMR-400 feedline from the RPI dongle to the antenna which is up about 50' HAAT. Was having trouble with the receiver dongle, would lose sensitivity shortly after starting up, but adding heatsinks to the receiver chip and USB chip seems to have alleviated that issue.

Originally installed Piaware, then added RadarBox24 to duplicate coverage. PlanePlotter is also able to combine ACARS and ADS-B information together if you have two RTL-SDR sticks and can also be used to share data with the popular online ADS-B aggregator.

After the trial period a licence can be purchased for 25 euros.

Hi, first post here, thought it best to show my setup. PlanePlotter is a sophisticated commercial software with a 21 day trial period.
